Yang Yang's Reflection
Guitar concert is the second time I sold flowers. (The first time is the CO concert) Reviving these two fundraising events in my memory, I found that I have gained experience and learnt many tips through them.

At the CO concert, it seemed that we were hard selling flowers all the time. We stood at the entrance and nearly asked everyone walked in if they wanted to buy the flower. However, at the guitar concert, people came to our stall to buy flowers. Some people even buy four or five flowers. I think the main reason is that the flowers we sold at the guitar concert which was gerbera, was much more colorful and various comparing to the single color rose. Hence, people would buy a few to create a beautiful and unique combination to give away to their friends. Thus, I think if we are going to sell flowers next time, we should have flowers of different colors and different variety since it will be more attracting to different people and people will buy more at a time.

Secondly, we found out that the interval of the concert is a good time to sell flowers. I remembered at the CO concert, before it began, no one came to me to buy flowers. However, at the interval, several people came to me and wanted to buy flowers. I think it is because interval is the time when the performers and the audience interacts, so it is a good time to give away presents and hence it is a good time to sell flowers. However, when the concert ended, flowers are much more difficult to sell. I still remembered the miserable situation when we went around the crowd with flowers and asked them nearly one by one, but very very few flowers were sold. Hence, we really need to seize the chance to sell flowers during the interval. It is better to sell all the flowers before the ending.

Another thing I have noticed is that many flowers began to shrivel near the end of the concert. Especially the gerberas, the stem of the flower would become weak and not strong enough to hold the big flower. So I think if we can have a big glass container to put the flowers in with water, flowers can last for a longer time. And maybe the unpleasant looking of the flowers might be a reason for why the audience did not buy flowers after the concert. If we can keep the flowers in good condition, and maybe give some discount to the customers, we can sell some flowers even at the end of the concert.

Charmaine's Reflection
The Guitar concert was held in the afternoon, on the same day as the CAN marathon. As such, there were many early birds who stayed to attend the concert after taking part in CAN. This allows us to start the sale of flowers early.
We tried to approach as many customers as we could, and some of the Yunnan Team members also helped their friends to reserve the flowers. It was really heart-warming to see our friends supporting us in our fundraising project (:

The sale was relatively okay. As there was no intermission during the concert, we were unable to enjoy the privilege of having more time to persuade more people to buy the flowers. We could only do so when the concert ended. At that time, the stalks of some of the flowers were bent and the flowers were not in good condition. Upon seeing so, we were initially a little discouraged for we worry that no one will want the bent flowers. However, some of the members came up with a brilliant idea to salvage the situation! We cut away part of the flower stalk and tie a few flowers together in a bundle. Our members worked really hard, trying to get more people to purchase the flowers. At last, we manage to clear the sales.

OUR FLOWERS WERE SOLD OUT!

In addition, we sold drinks and brownies at our booth as there are still leftovers from the CAN fundraising. Although the sale of the food and beverage was not as successful, our members still struggled to ask more people to buy and manage to clear a portion of it. Most of the members stayed from CAN race in the morning till the end of the fundraising at Guitar concert during evening. Yet, despite the tiredness and being so worn out, our members still put in a commendable effort and did not give up.

GOOD JOB!
